Road trip to Moab
May 29, 2003: Get up, stand up

Moab, Utah is the mecca of mountain biking: everyone who loves mountain biking should go there at least once in their life.
As I also like motorcycling, I decided to make my Moab trip a two-wheeled enterprise: I would go there with my
Ducati (a yellow Monster 620) and then hit the slickrock with a rented mountain bike.
From my place in Palo Alto, CA, this would come down to a ride of roughly 1000 miles (one way), hence a serious endeavour it would be.
I also wanted to make it an odyssee along some of the finest national parks and scenery in the West. So I took some days off, hooked up my
Tour Master saddle bags (my appreciation to the Ducati Monster List for giving me gear inspiration), and hit the road. The plan was
to meet my mountain bike buddies (Malena, Inge, Thomas) in three days in Moab. On the map below you see my itinerary.
