June 2: The Porcupine Rim

(click on the pictures for the high resolution version)

The second day ride:the (in)famous Porcupine Rim trail! We did manage to get an early start, however, as Inge's chain and derailer turned out bent beyond repair after transport, she needed to go back into town to get another bike, so we started riding only at 10am again (seems like a mtbsh nature law ;)). After a 4 mile climb, we got onto the rim of the canyon and we were treated with this great view.
The Moab delegation of the Mountainbike Schweinehunde! Right to left: Inge, Thomas, Malena and me.
Posing on the Porcupine Rim (this drop-off is a bit too much to take).
On the rim, with in the background the snowcapped La Sal mountains.
Another nice view.
The downhill had fast sections but also brutally technical portions with plenty of rocky ledges and drop-offs: serious fun!
The singletrack at the end offered (besides an increased heart rate) beautiful views on the Colorado river below.
A nice spot to pose for the picture.
