Cultural divide

Jurgen (on a trip in Europe) produced the following eloquent expression of his views on the cultural divide between here and there:

'One can walk around with a beer mug in the hand without fat cops putting you in jail and people don't go to bed at 9pm.'

Though not without some rethorical aplomb, he does have something of a point here.
